Our Roots: From the Reformation to the Present

When we become followers of Jesus, we enter into something that has been going on for thousands of years. We have history. We have a deep connection with those who believed in the Way, the Truth, and the Life who lived before us. In other words, we have roots. As twenty-first century believers in Jesus we need to look backwards to our roots because we can’t know where we’re going until we know where we’ve been. This class tells the stories of the men and women who strived amidst great peril to discover what it looked like to follow Jesus in their generation, and who in the process formed the Church into what we know today. Their history is our history.

The Chase: Pursuing God

The Chase is a passionate pursuit of intimacy with God. A new style of class, it is a gathering for teaching and worship. Focusing on who God is and what He has accomplished in creation and redemption, The Chase is about experiencing together the wonder and the awe. Evenly divided between interactive teaching and reflective worship, it is about learning God’s story and becoming a part of that story. It is about searching His word to hear what He has said, and to hear what He is still staying today. It is about entering His presence through worship that reflects on His truth, allowing that truth to sink in deep, transform the mind, and inflame the heart into love and action. The Chase is for when information about God is both desired and not enough. It is for the heart that will be satisfied with nothing less than having the God of Wonders for one’s own.
Time: Wednesdays from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.Date: January 16 for 12 weeks

Developing Your Spiritual Life

Spiritual growth and vitality come through the Christian’s personal effort in cooperation with the indwelling Holy Spirit. Maturing into Christ-likeness and growing deeper in one’s relationship with God is something the Christ-follower must work toward. The Bible presents several spiritual exercises that help us achieve these goals. The aim of this class is to introduce you to these exercises and help you understand how each one strengthens your spiritual life.

Marriage Foundations

A lasting marriage, like a house, must be built on a good foundation. Some marriages collapse because the basis on which they were built is not strong enough to endure the mounting pressures and erosions of life in the twenty-first century. Faith in God, commitment to Jesus Christ and to each other, and honesty and integrity are some of the elements of a good foundation. Shared dreams, goals, and expectations, as well as a continuing romance also contribute to a marriage that can weather the storms. This class is for couples who are considering marriage or who are already married and want additional insights on how to make their marriage great and lasting. The class is seven weeks long for first-time marriages, and it continues two more weeks for couples who are married again.
Time: Wednesdays from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.Date: January 16 for 7 weeks
